The Palm Mansion is a new wedding venue in Umatilla, Florida located on North Trowell Avenue.
This gorgeous historic property was built by the local citrus grover Robert Lee Collins and his wife, Drucilla Trowell, in 1904 and it remained in the family for six generations.
In 2023, Roots To Stems Wedding Planning owner, Alayna Mines, purchased the property with the city's blessing to turn the property into an event space unlike any other in the Central Florida area! Our mission is to stand as a symbol of hospitality, warmth, and southern charm--a place where couples can create their own story and share it for generations to come.
We hope you'll join us! The Position:
The Palm Mansion Team is in search of reliable, detail-oriented teammates to serve in the position of Venue Houseman to support our property during scheduled weddings and events.
This role is a 1099 contract position and qualified applicants will be trained by our Venue Manager and contacted to be scheduled for specific events at the property Tuesdays - Sundays from 10am until 10/11pm.
Events are more frequent on weekends and during peak wedding season.
Responsibilities:
As a Venue Houseman, you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the venue's main spaces, hallways, storage, and service areas.
During events, you are the main point of contact on-site for any venue needs requested by the event Vendors (catering, florals, decor, entertainment) or the event hosts.
You are required to set up the venue per the specified Venue checklist, and once the event has concluded you then thoroughly clean and reset the space for the next event.
You will assist the Venue Manager by routinely inventorying any/all needed supplies, and reporting any incidents where the venue may need attention or repair.
Thoroughly check the property at the start of each shift using our Setup Checklist to make sure The Palm Mansion is event ready for our wonderful couples and guests! Be a point of contact for the property as Vendors and Event Planners arrive and set-up.
Be engaging and friendly to all vendors, couples/event hosts and their guests.
Frequently check that any public spaces are properly restocked (such as paper products in the property's restrooms).
Keep the venue safe and clean at all times - all guest-facing areas should be free of trash or clutter.
Empty trash and recycling bins in all public spaces.
Wipe down surfaces and keep the employee break area/kitchen clean.
Perform periodic and special cleaning, as noted in the cleanup check list.
Follow standard operating procedures such as:
Responding to emergency requests Report any vendors not following the venue policies (ex.
Nailing items into the walls) Reporting safety or security violations immediately to the venue manager or owner.
Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair to the venue manager or owner.
Properly documenting any of the above issues.
Wear The Palm Mansion uniform and appear well groomed and professional.
Requirements & Qualifications We need someone who is willing to go above and beyond to make sure each event delivers on our client's expectations.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow instructions and directions from the venue manager, event planners, or property owner.
A knack for anticipating needs and being proactive.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time in indoor and outdoor spaces.
The ability to support efforts that are physically demanding such as the set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and other special event objects needed for custom layout.
Must be able to work a full day, including late nights depending on the timeline of the scheduled event.
Must speak English.
